Tender Mercies

Today was not...well, let's just say I've had better days! I have caught something of a cold this past weekend that has suddenly turned into a sinus/head cold thing. Well, as you all know your head hurts, your ears hurt--it's just a mess. I finally make it to class this morning and much to my surprise I am in desperate need of a tampon. After searching through my purse, I finally find one and head to class. Work was much the same, but fun! I love the people I work with--they made me laugh and regain some form of myself that I tend to lose when I feel all sicky.
After freezing all day in my cubicle (imagine me wrapped in a blanket, with a coat on as well)...I decided I had enough and went home early for the day. As I drove home, one of my favorite songs came on..."Never Alone" (it is on my blog, you cannot miss it :)) . It's my "eternal check" song! Everytime I listen to it it invokes something in me that makes me take a step back and look at my life from an eternal perspective. If you have listened to the song and the words, it states, "Never alone..never alone..I'll be in every beat of your heart as you face the unknown..." One simple phrase, "never alone" and my whole day was changed. I realized how beautiful the day was--the sun was shining, sending out warm rays to warm up my cold body. I even thought to myself, as I was getting off the freeway, how nice it would be to be able to spend some time with my sister this day and see her. I turned down my street and to my surprise my sister's car was in the driveway. I smiled, and gave thanks. Who else but Heavenly Father thru his tender mercies would have known I would have liked to have seen my sister. Who else but He knows that I've been praying the past two days for His help--asking for strength to go on everyday to school and work and to continue forward. Who else but HIm would have known I would have needed a laugh from a friend at work, needed a ray of sunshine, needed to hear some simple words from a song, and needed to see my sister.
